About Us

Our Story

Jeramy and Teresa Hing with children Easton (age 7) and Haven (age 4) are working towards joining the staff of Extreme Response International to be missionaries in Quito, Ecuador. Selling off our belongings and house in Michigan, things are starting to really take off.
In 2005 our lives were changed by a short-term trip to Ecuador where we spent two weeks building a school and church for an impoverished community named Argelia Alta. We spent time with families that find their living scavenging through the city dump. This trip broke our families heart and for the people in Ecuador and we began our relationship with Extreme Response as part-time volunteers. Over time our family worked together toward our goal of joining Extreme Response full-time. So, the journey begins.
Our departure dates for training are projected for Febuary and April 2011. Arrival date to Quito, Ecuador is projected for June/July 2011. We are excited about beginning this journey of a lifetime. Our family will be involved with work teams that come to Ecuador to further a variety of community based partnerships, including construction projects on churches, schools, medical facilities, and hands on interaction with the poor. Some of Jeramy’s responsibilities will also include working with the IT Department and developing marketing/multimedia resources for ER and their partner ministries around the world. At this time Teresa will primarily focus on our children while they are still small, but there are plans that may include direct interaction with many of the child-based work in Ecuador.

The Impact

Extreme Response International is a humanitarian aid organization committed to meeting the needs of people living in extreme situations. We work primarily through partnerships with community-based organizations, helping them reach out to their neighbors. We are actively involved in 13 countries through 31 partnerships or projects.
We focus on orphans, refugees, dump dwellers, and people in extreme poverty. We provide help and hope to those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, and those who lack clean drinking water, education, and medical care.
Extreme Response was founded in 2001 as a nonprofit, global organization dedicated to providing relief and support to people living in extreme, often life-threatening conditions. With a passion for the world’s poor, Extreme Response programs target those at greatest risk. Priority areas of program support focus on addressing the most immediate and critical physical needs and include:

  • Providing shelter for those with no home.
  • Providing school supplies and education for those who want more opportunities.
  • Providing food for those who are hungry.
  • Providing love for those who need a hug and encouragement.
  • Providing life-skills training for those who will soon be left to fend for themselves.
